What do you get when you combine a love of coffee and tea as well as having two busy young children? Two Monkeys Coffee and Tea House of course! The idea is simple — a truly family friendly coffee and tea house that doesn't feel like the "Disney Store". And it's also a first for Barrhaven.
Two Monkey's Owners Rob Kay and Jill Sheppard understand that a typical restaurant or coffee house isn't designed with children in mind. Most "family friendly" places may have a colouring book behind the counter… But things are different at Two Monkeys! There is an entire area dedicated to parents & children! This allows them to entertain themselves while Mom and Dad relax on the couch, enjoy their drinks and chat. Two Monkeys is Savvy Mom approved!
What if I don't have kids? Fear not! You are welcomed by warm, inviting colours, rustic chairs, a cozy seating area with leather chairs and a fireplace. This is a place that welcomes you with open arms - with children or without.
While the children's area may be what makes Two Monkeys in Barrhaven different from most coffee houses, the focus on providing great products is what keeps people coming back. From the irresistible fresh soups to the now famous Cinnamon Pecan sticky buns made onsite by Jill's mom, to the kid (and parent) friendly snacks that help make a lunch or snack time so much more enjoyable. A common question asked in the shop has become "so what soup is your mom making today?"
Two Monkey's coffee is all fair trade, organic and locally roasted. There is a growing selection of wonderful loose teas and customer input has already started to impact what is being offered. It is this customer centered approach that Rob and Jill have taken to heart in every aspect of Two Monkeys.
